Indications and Warnings

Indication

For the dietary management of Glutaric Aciduria Type I in infancy. It consists of a lysine free amino acid mixture, carbohydrates and a special fat blend containing long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCP), and is supplemented with vitamins, minerals, trace elements and specifically with L-Carnitine..It is suitable for 0-1 year of age.

Warnings and precautions

Not suitable as sole source of nutrition
Must be used under medical supervision.
Not to be used by individuals without Glutaric Aciduria.
For infants with Glutaric Aciduria Type I
Not suitable for parenteral use
Do not boil mixture or use terminal sterilisation.
Never use a microwave oven to warm formula.
Serious burns can result.

Instructions for Use

Preparation

Pour required volume of hot previously boiled water (cooled down to 50 °C) into a feeding bottle.
Add measured amount of GAc.
A formula and, if applicable, normal infant formula, close the bottle and shake well until the powder dissolves.
Before feeding, ensure that the formula is at the correct temperature by placing a few drops on the inside of your wrist.
Prepare bottle feed always fresh and discard unfinished feeds.
Please watch dental care starting with baby´s first teeth, especially before bedtime.

Directions for use

Oral / Tube Feeding
The recommended dosage and timing of intake is dependent on the age, bodyweight, and medical condition of the patient, and should be determined by a dietitian or clinician only.
Mixing ratio - Depending on specific needs of everyone, preparation will vary as prescribed by healthcare personnel, Dietitians or medical practitioners.
The daily amount required should be divided into 3 to 5 single portions and should be taken mixed with breast milk or normal infant formula in calculated amounts.
Diets with GAc A formula must contain adequate amounts of energy, essential fatty acids, lysine, and phenylalanine to meet daily requirement.

Storage and Product Details

Store in a cool, dry place (5-25°C).
Always replace the lid after use.
Once opened, use within two weeks.
